Let me start off by saying that I’m NOT a crazy cat lady. I realize that being a single girl with three cats leads to that assumption, but I’m really not. While I was open to the idea of another cat after Sepp died last year, I will NOT have more than three at once.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, it’s time for an introduction – meet Bella:
Bella came into my life when an email about her needing a new home found its way into my inbox around the middle of August. At that point I really wasn’t in a position to be taking on a third kitty, but in a rare move I decided to ignore what the practical part of my brain was telling me to do and adopt her anyway. There were a few signs I got initially that pushed me in that direction:
- She’s black. Sepp was black. I have a black cat tattooed on my foot. Enough said.
- She’s around 11 years old. No one really wants to adopt an adult cat, let alone one who’s that old. I’m hoping she sticks around for a long time despite her age, sort of like how Willie’s still going strong despite his FIV.
- She needed a home because her owner had died, and something about the timing seemed a little eerie to me. It turns out that her owner died the day before my Rill Oma in July. If that’s not some kind of sign from above, I don’t know what is.
It turns out bringing Bella home was a great move. She took an instant liking to me, and within a few days was sleeping with me. Our new nighttime routine begins with her jumping up to cuddle as soon as I climb into bed, and ends with her taking over the spare pillow for the rest of the night.
Something else I love about her is that Bella is tiny, weighing all of seven pounds. This obviously puts her at a disadvantage size-wise (Siggy’s around 13.5 and Wille’s at about 12) but the boys are still a little scared of her. They’ve quickly learned not to give her any trouble. You go girl!
That’s all for this installment – since I have a lot to catch up on, I’m hoping to post again soon starting with a few pictures from my trip to DC in August.

She's pretty and I love how tiny she is, but the boys are scared of her.
